Let me guess, you've been scouring the internet and the local library for every obscure scrap of information out there.
Still only getting basic tutorials that are leaning heavily on assumed knowledge?
We're not doing that anymore

When you're first starting out and don't have access to a mentor or a school to teach you sewing, it's really just down to an internet connection and HOURS scouring the internet for sewing techniques and tutorials.
That's why I created this directory! I did have a good start with mentors in my family, but I had to continue my learning by getting book after book (yes this is pre-internet) and learning though text instructions and the odd picture here and there.
If all you have is an internet connection, here's all the sewing skills I've learned in over 20+ years of learning.
Hi, I'm Andi.
I've been a professional dressmaker for many years and I know just how difficult it can be to master a new skill when there is no one around to teach.
I was very lucky to have generations of my family to begin my journey with sewing but in order to truly master the skills I needed, I had to look much further than they could teach me.
I spent many years looking through books, blogs, videos and every single resource I could get my hands on and trial and error. Many, many errors.
I have added as many of the most useful techniques into this course so you will not have to spend the same years as I did. I will continue to keep updating this course as I go, but here is everything you will need to get you started and continue with your sewing projects.
When making clothes for yourself, it's ok for the stitching and finishing to not be as perfect as you'd like it to be.
But if you're making something for a client, the quality of the work is what is truly important. It's not just about how it looks, it needs to feel perfect on their skin.
Making sure to practice each of these techniques until you have a professional finish will give you that edge over all the home sewists that undercharge until you're out of business.

“
Sewing, pattern making and designing custom clothing for my clients has been the best part of my business for many years now.
I wanted to keep sharing the skills I've learned over the years to as many people as possible, no matter where they were.
For now, this online sewing school is just my courses. But, one day, I will have so many more amazing sewists being able to share their skills as well.
